Wabi-Sabi Horned Owl

By Robert Michael Weahkee

Animal: Owl, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.

Robert Michael Weahkee's perceptive horned Owl is carved from a naturally broken antler that he sweetly says is part of his Wabi-Sabi series. Wabi-sabi is a traditional Japanese aesthetic of finding the perfect in the imperfect. The rustic simplicity of the antler is where the real the beauty is. Jet in turquoise bead eyes analyze the midnight hour. Owls are called the Night Grandfather in Zuni Pueblo because they do their work when beautiful darkness falls. A lively necklace from quartz, citrine, amber and lemon quartz beads lights up this raptor's night shift. About 4 1/4" tall, 5" wide and 1 5/8" deep.
