In the Zuni culture, corn is considered 'the mother' because of their dependence on corn and corn's emergence from the primary mother, Earth. Their use of corn in prayers and ceremonies is an affirmation of the connection between Earth and all life. Domineca's offering is in black marble with fascinating sgraffito etching.
