This 'Grandmother necklace' has fetishes carved by many members of the renowned Quandelacy family, including Faye, Georgia, Sandra, Albenita, Andres and Brian Yunie. Called a 'Grandmother necklace' because one like this was first made as a gift for Ellen Quandelacy, the head of the family.
The center Grandmother reversible pendant is carved of delicious fossilized ivory, is inlaid with blue turquoise stones and is 2 3/4" tall and about 1" wide, concave. She's strung with red coral and a lively medley of other colorful beads.
Overall necklace length is adjustable from about 26" - 29". Materials used include jet, mother-of-pearl, turquoise, red, orange and purple spiny oyster shells, fossilized ivory, malachite, lapis and amber.
